Ciencia y religión : magisterios que sí se superponen

Abstract

Este artículo tiene un triple propósito: primero, mostrar por qué, contrariamente a lo que a menudo se dice, la ciencia y la religión de hecho sí son aproximaciones incompatibles, tanto metodológicamente como en las respectivas cosmovisiones que implican, a la hora de abordar e investigar la realidad. Segundo, mostrar por qué la tesis NOMA referente a la ausencia de conflicto entre ciencia y religión es insostenible y, tercero, mostrar por qué la típica réplica dirigida a los defensores de la ciencia y críticos de la fe religiosa, según la cual «creer» en la ciencia es solo otro tipo de «fe» o incluso la ciencia misma es otra «religión» más, es infundada.This paper has a threefold purpose: first, to show why, contrary to widespread opinion, science and religion are in fact incompatible approaches to the investigation of reality, both in the methodology and worldviews they respectively entail. Second, to show why the noma thesis, according to which there should not be conflict between science and religion, is in fact untenable, and third, to show why the typical retort addressed to science supporters and critics of religious faith, according to which «belief» in science is just another kind of «faith» or even science itself is just another «religion», is unfounded.
