Abstract
Veterinary obstetric ultrasound is a fundamental tool for assessing fetal development and identifying potential congenital anomalies. However, characterizing fetal urinary abnormalities in dogs remains challenging due to the limited availability of specific clinical reports. Consequently, achieving a comprehensive diagnosis often requires extrapolating complementary information from human medical literature to interpret findings and guide the patient's imaging assessment. In veterinary medicine, renal ultrasonography allows for the characterization of fetal kidney development and aids in estimating gestational age (1). Ultrasound is a highly sensitive and readily available diagnostic tool that enables veterinarians to detect fetal pathologies at an early stage and facilitates monitoring due to the ease with which the procedure can be repeated. This case report serves as an accessible reference for clinicians and imaging specialists regarding the ultrasound findings associated with fetal hydronephrosis, hydroureter, and megabladder observed during the obstetric ultrasound of a Miniature Pinscher.
