Publication Ajuste del método de la curva número para el diseño hidrológico en cuencas andinas colombianas(Corporación Universitaria Remington, 2023) Martínez Niño, Mateo; Bedoya Soto, Juan Mauricio; Arbeláez Arenas, OscarEl método de la curva número (CN) fue desarrollado por el Servicio de Conservación de Suelos (SCS) para estimar la escorrentía directa a partir de una tormenta. Este método permite calcular caudales máximos, esenciales para el diseño de infraestructura de drenaje. Sin embargo, el método presenta incertidumbres en su aplicación en cuencas altoandinas colombianas debido a diferencias climáticas y edafológicas. Por lo tanto, se requiere un ajuste al método de la curva número (SCS) que determine adecuadamente la escorrentía directa. En base a lo antes propuesto, primero se revisó la literatura para recopilar el método de aplicación y las ecuaciones propuestas. Luego, se extrajeron datos necesarios para el cálculo del CN, como los proporcionados por el Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) o del instituto de hidrología meteorología y estudios ambientales (IDEAM). El objetivo principal fue contrastar el método tradicional (basado en tablas) y el método empírico (con datos de precipitación y caudal) para calcular el número de curva (CN) en cuencas piloto ubicadas a lo largo de la cordillera de los Andes. Como resultado se obtuvieron mapas asociados a la metodología tradicional y gráficas relacionadas al método empírico. Estos resultados se analizaron comparándolos con correcciones propuestas al método original. De esta manera se buscó disminuir el porcentaje de error en la determinación de la escorrentía directa mediante el número de curva, al incorporar ajustes a la metodología para su aplicación en cuencas andinas colombianas.Publication Análisis de las señales de cambio climático a partir del flujo base de Cuencas en el Urabá antioqueño(Corporación Universitaria Remington, 2024) Mestra Galeano, Amilkar Jessith; Bedoya Soto, Juan MauricioEl cambio climático plantea uno de los mayores desafíos de nuestra sociedad actual. En el Urabá antioqueño, una región rica en agua y biodiversidad, es esencial analizar las señales de cambio climático en el flujo base de las cuencas, las cuales se ha alterado significativamente los sistemas hidrológicos del Urabá antioqueño, afectando la disponibilidad de recursos hídricos para usos vitales como el abastecimiento de agua potable, la agricultura, entre otros. La falta de un análisis exhaustivo dificulta la toma de decisiones informadas y la implementación de estrategias de adaptación y mitigación adecuada, Este estudio propone un enfoque integral para analizar las señales de cambio climático en el flujo base de las cuencas del Urabá antioqueño. Se recopilarán datos hidrológicos históricos y se utilizarán modelos climáticos para identificar patrones y tendencias en el comportamiento hidrológico.. Los resultados obtenidos respaldarán la toma de decisiones informadas, la implementación de medidas de adaptación y mitigación, y contribuirán al desarrollo de políticas y acciones para enfrentar los impactos del cambio climático, creando un futuro más resiliente y sostenible para las generaciones futuras.Publication Análisis de series temporales de las tormentas en la ciudad de Medellín(Corporación Universitaria Remington, 2023) Usme Morales, José Julián; Bedoya Soto, Juan Mauricio; Arbeláez Arenas, OscarEn los últimos años, se ha observado un aumento en la intensidad de las tormentas, caracterizadas por lluvias intensas, fuertes vientos y descargas eléctricas. Este fenómeno ha generado impactos negativos en la ciudad y sus habitantes, como inundaciones, daños en infraestructuras y riesgos para la seguridad. El proyecto tiene como objetivo principal investigar las recientes intensificaciones de las tormentas en la ciudad de Medellín y comprender sus causas y consecuencias. En el proyecto se estudian los datos obtenidos de las estaciones Olaya Herrera y José María Córdoba los cuales se analizan en el programa de Estudio. En este programa se aplican métodos estadísticos como es la prueba Mann-Kendall (consiste básicamente en la comparación entre los valores que componen una misma serie temporal, en orden secuencial). Esta prueba nos permite identificar las tendencias de los datos que se están analizando para determinar que tanto se están incrementando las tormentas en Medellín. Además, se investigarán las posibles causas de estas intensificaciones, como el cambio climático, la variabilidad climática, la topografía y la urbanización acelerada. Comprender estas causas permitirá proponer estrategias de adaptación y mitigación adecuadas para reducir los impactos negativos. Se justifica la importancia del estudio para tomar decisiones informadas, proteger la infraestructura y mejorar la seguridad y calidad de vida de los habitantes de Medellín. El proyecto contribuirá a generar conocimientos sólidos sobre las intensificaciones de las tormentas en Medellín y proporcionará información relevante para las autoridades y la sociedad en general. Se espera que los resultados ayuden a desarrollar medidas de prevención y planificación urbana resiliente, así como a fomentar la concientización sobre los riesgos asociados a estos eventos climáticos extremos.Publication Imputación de datos faltantes de lluvia máxima mensual en la zona Andina de Colombia usando optimización convexa(Corporación Universitaria Remington, 2023) Sierra Zuleta, Marianna; Bedoya Soto, Juan Mauricio; Arbeláez Arenas, OscarEn el proceso de toma de datos de lluvia ha sido probable que existan valores faltantes por diversos factores como: las fallas en la toma o los equipos de medición, problemas de orden público, entre otros. Esta pérdida de datos ha afectado la precisión y validez de cálculos hidroclimáticos, por esta razón fue importante imputar estos datos faltantes en las series de lluvia máxima mensual, debido a que es fundamental caracterizar la estacionalidad y variabilidad interanual de tormentas extremas en cuencas hidrográficas. En este trabajo de investigación se ha aplicado el método de optimización convexa, el cual tenía como objetivo calcular datos faltantes en las series de lluvia máxima mensual en Colombia, y validar estos valores imputados. Dentro del desarrollo del proyecto se agruparon las series de lluvia según las diferentes regionalizaciones climáticas, y se realizó un análisis de validación a las series reconstruidas. Además, se propuso diseñar estrategias las cuales ayuden a disminuir el RMSE (error cuadrático medio) de validación. Esta investigación se realizó usando un desarrollo algorítmico en el lenguaje de programación Matlab. Se hizo una selección de series mensuales de lluvia máxima para la región Andina de Colombia, y análisis de no estacionariedad usando pruebas de hipótesis implementadas con el lenguaje de programación R. Para la imputación de datos faltantes se implementó un algoritmo cuyo núcleo es la descomposición en valores singulares. El desarrollo de este proyecto tuvo la finalidad de presentar un póster, un artículo de revisión en revista indexada nacional y presentar los resultados del proyecto en los encuentros programados por VICUR.Publication Uso de la función ancho en el hidrograma unitario instantáneo geomorfológico de cuencas altoandinas(Corporación Universitaria Remington, 2023) López Martínez, Mariana; Bedoya Soto, Juan Mauricio; Arbeláez Arenas, OscarEn Colombia tenemos una gran red hídrica sobre todo en la zona andina, además, estamos en un contexto de cambio climático que está afectando al mundo, donde se espera que los eventos extremos sean cada vez más frecuentes y más intensos. Estos eventos son importantes porque muchas de las obras hidráulicas que se diseñan en la ingeniería civil dependen de los caudales máximos que pasan por los ríos. Un análisis inadecuado de los caudales máximos aumenta el riesgo de grandes inundaciones con importantes consecuencias sociales, es también, por lo que diariamente se implementan metodologías que ayuden a estos cálculos en sitios donde no hay datos de caudal disponible (es decir, que no hay estaciones hidrológicas). Esta investigación buscó analizar los patrones regionales de escalamiento de eventos extremos en cuencas Altoandinas Colombianas usando el concepto de la Función Ancho (FA). Dadas las complejas características topográficas e hidro climáticas de los Andes tropicales, se requiere seguir avanzando en los análisis regionales de escalamiento previamente explorados por UNAL y la secretaria de obras públicas de Antioquia (1997). Dentro de este contexto de escalamiento, se estudió a fondo cómo acoplar la FA al HUIG para evaluar los procesos dominantes en la respuesta hidrológica de las cuencas en estudio mediante el uso de información digital de elevación más fina actualmente disponible en red. Los resultados indican que la Función Ancho puede inferir adecuadamente algunas propiedades de la respuesta hidrológica, ya que los caudales pico y tiempos al pico estimados a través de la FA se asemejaron con los obtenidos mediante el método SCS triangular. Sin embargo, los caudales máximos calculados para diferentes periodos de retorno se encontraron fuera del rango esperado. Esto se le atribuyó a la sensibilidad de la FA ante el valor de la celeridad, lo que podría estar sobreestimando dichos valores. En conclusión, el estudio demostró el potencial de la Función Ancho para estimar propiedades hidrológicas de cuencas, especialmente en eventos extremos máximos, pero requiere una cuidadosa calibración de parámetros como la celeridad para que la función provea estimaciones confiables de caudales máximos asociados a distintos periodos de retorno. Esto optimizaría la aplicabilidad de la FA en la modelación hidrológica de cuencas.Publication Uso de las relaciones de Horton-Strahler en el hidrograma unitario instantáneo geomorfológico en cuencas andinas(Corporación Universitaria Remington, 2023) Ocampo Zapata, Heli Steven; Bedoya Soto, Juan Mauricio; Arbeláez Arenas, OscarPara la hidrología y la geomorfología, el cálculo de caudales máximos ha sido un problema de alta perplejidad, debido a la compleja topografía de las cuencas que ocasionan variación en la red de drenaje, afectando los parámetros morfométricos y resultados. Para el cálculo de caudales pico, tiempo al pico, densidad de drenaje, el método de orden de los cauces 11 Horton-Strahler nos permitió, por medio de sus Relaciones de bifurcación, longitud y área, determinar estos componentes para estimar el Hidrograma Unitario Instantáneo Geomorfológico (HUIG) y derivados del HU. En esta investigación, se aplicó la metodología de Horton–Strahler en cuencas andinas sin instrumentación de Colombia debido a la ausencia de datos que se presentan en la zona. En la región se han utilizado métodos muy simples y poco exitosos que han sido propuestos por varios hidrólogos a través de los años, dado esto, fue de gran motivación aplicar esta metodología para estudios hidrogeomorfológicos en la extensa topografía de los Andes. Este método clasifica la red de drenaje de la cuenca a partir de su composición fluvial y el área de iniciación de un canal para que se drene al rio principal. La metodología se enfocó en recolectar datos de modelos de elevación (MDE) por ALOS PALSAR a partir de un tamaño 12.5 x 12.5, con el fin de definir una resolución buena de las celdas para la red de canales, las características morfométricas e hidrológicas de la cuenca en el desarrollo del proyecto. Todos los parámetros, valores y resultados se realizaron en SAGA GIS 8.1.1, que es un software hibrido de información geográfica que brinda una gran facilidad en su programación, se usó también EXCEL para complementar los valores de los cálculos a graficas de tendencia exponencial y HEC-HMS 4.11, siendo un sistema de modelado hidrológico para procesos de precipitación y escorrentía de las cuencas de drenaje, se empleó con el objetivo de comparar las metodologías tradicionales del hidrograma unitario sintético (HUS) de Snyder y SCS, implementando también los hidrogramas de escorrentía directa (HED) con la curva número (CN) con el HUIG. Los resultados que se obtuvieron a partir de la metodología H-S son bastante comprometedores, dado que los porcentajes de error de algunas cuencas no superan el 50 % en la comparación del HUS de la metodología tradicional SCS, pero para la cuenca la gloria, en el parámetro del caudal máximo fueron iguales, con un porcentaje de error de 0%. Se implemento el HUIG en HEC-HMS con los periodos de retorno para calcular el HED de cada una de las cuencas, pero se obtuvieron valores que se difieren de las metodologías tradicionales. Se comprobó que la velocidad del fujo es muy sensible a la pendiente del canal principal que puede verse afectada por los modelos de elevación, ya que estos interpolan canales y elevaciones del terreno que no existen en la zona. El hidrograma Unitario Instantáneo Geomorfológico (HUIG) es útil en el área de ingeniería civil para todo tipo de obra hidráulica que se llegue a construir, con el fin de brindar una mejor calidad de vida para los habitantes de la zona y mejor aprovechamiento de los recursos hídricos, sea en la generación de energía eléctrica, drenaje urbano y sistemas de riego.
